About us

Rooted, reaching further

Dream Chasers exists so that young people in our community have somewhere to take their talent, their energy and their ambition — and somewhere to bring it home to.

Our story

How Dream Chasers began

Dream Chasers grew out of dance and creative expression in our community. What began as young people gathering to train and perform became a structured organisation with programmes, board members and partnerships.

Today the organisation works across four areas — youth development, arts and culture, skills development and community empowerment — and takes local talent to stages beyond the region, including the 021 BDC in Cape Town.

The name carries the purpose: chase the dream, then bring it home so that the next young person can see that it is possible.

Founding year, founder details and full organisational history to be confirmed by the organisation.

Mission

To develop young people in our community by creating structured opportunities for creative expression, practical skills and meaningful participation in their community.

Vision

A community where every young person can chase their dream with support, and bring the benefit of it home to the people around them.

Our values

What guides our decisions

Young people first

Every decision starts with what is best for the young people we work with.

Community rooted

We are of this community, and we work with it, not for it.

Dignity and safety

Young people are treated with respect and kept safe in every activity we run.

Accountability

We report honestly on what we do, including what we are still building.

Creativity as a pathway

Arts and culture are serious tools for development, not just entertainment.

Collaboration

Lasting youth development happens through partnerships, not in isolation.

Our team

The people behind the work

Dream Chasers is run by a committed team of board members, coordinators and volunteers from the community.
